Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 September 2026
Who we are
Choopi is a product of Genetrify, a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Selwyn Uy ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Choopi apps for iOS and Android and this website.
Genetrify is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR and the equivalent role under other privacy laws — although, as set out below, we hold no personal data about you on any system we control.
What Choopi does with your photos
Choopi reads your photo library on your device so it can group photos into moments, show them to you one at a time, and — only when you confirm — ask the operating system to delete the ones you chose to let go.
- Photos are read, displayed, and analysed entirely on your device.
- Photos are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
- "Choopi's eye" — the feature that suggests the best shot in a set — runs on your device using the operating system's own image and face-detection APIs. No image or measurement derived from an image is ever transmitted.
- Deletion always goes through the operating system's own confirmation, and deleted photos go to your device's Recently Deleted or Trash, where they remain recoverable for about 30 days.
What Choopi stores, and where
Choopi keeps a small amount of data in its own private storage on your device so the app can work across launches. This never leaves the device except through a backup you yourself control (iCloud Backup or Google Backup).
- Counts and dates of your cleanup sessions: how many photos were reviewed, kept, and let go, and how much space was freed.
- Which photos you have already decided to keep, stored as the operating system's own photo identifiers, so Choopi never asks about them again.
- Your settings, streak history, and earned milestones.
- Whether you have purchased Choopi Pro.
You can erase all of it at any time by uninstalling the app, or by clearing the app's storage in your device settings.
Data we collect about you
None. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, or crash reports. We do not use cookies or trackers on this website.
Network access
Choopi makes network requests in exactly one situation: to show the price of Choopi Pro and to complete or restore a purchase. Those requests go to Apple's App Store or Google Play, not to us.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. Their handling of that transaction is governed by their own privacy policies: Apple and Google.
Permissions Choopi asks for
- Photos. Required — it is the entire purpose of the app. Choopi requests read and write access so it can show you your photos and, with your confirmation, move the ones you chose into your device's trash. On iOS you may grant access to selected photos only; on Android 14 and later you may grant access to selected photos only. Choopi works either way, and tells you when it can only see part of your library.
- Notifications. Optional. Used only to send you a local reminder from your own device after you have taken a batch of photos. No notification is ever sent from a server.
Children
Choopi is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect information at all.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe), the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA (California) and the Philippines' Data Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Because Choopi holds no personal data about you on any system we control, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, export, or delete. All data the app creates lives on your device and is under your control. If you would like to confirm this in writing, contact us at the address below.
Data sharing and selling
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any personal information, because we do not have any. We do not permit any third party to collect information through the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top and, for any material change, note it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Choopi after a change means you accept the updated policy.
